It is time to say it out loud … I am off on my BIKE 14 April 2019 (one year to the day I returned from lap 1) heading south for 2 weeks on and 1 week off until I complete the lap of the map again. I had been debating this in my head for ages but the last 8/9 months have been very tough in many ways through loss, injuries, moving house and holding together a small business with stress levels through the roof at times. But on the plus side I have had an absolute joy in visiting schools and chatting to people about my lap. The pride I have in receiving awards presented by my own town of Arklow and my country .. my back up team deserve more than a medal for the help they gave me last time so the pressure is off them this time I hope. At the tender age of 66, I will be doing long mileage but at touring pace, and will be carrying all my own gear and clothes in bike paneers, so it won’t be at Tour de France speed. On Lap 2, I will be travelling along the safest routes closest to the coast to do a lap of the map in the opposite direction. I look forward to meeting all the lovely people I met on my last lap to thank them for their wonderful welcome and generosity. I am doing this for the RNLI - as you know they are funded only by donations from you and I. They risk their lives to save ours day in day out. I raised €72,000 on my first lap, and I am hoping to round it off to a nice €100,000 in total for both laps. Please donate if you can.
